Magiford in Libraries!

Exciting news for all my library loving Champions! All of the ebooks from my Magiford trilogies are now available to read on multiple library lending apps including Libby (aka Overdrive), Hoopla, Cloud Library, and Borrow Box.

If you don't already read books using one of these apps then I recommend you stop in at your local library to find out which app they offer (some libraries offer more than one!) and to get help installing the app on your device. Each library decides which of the apps they partner with so your local librarians will be the best experts to help you with this.

Tip 1: Different libraries choose to partner with different apps. So the library closest to you might offer Libby but the next closest library might use Hoopla. Don't be afraid to check with multiple libraries around you if you are having problems with long hold times on one of the apps.

Tip 2: If you are having problems finding the books try searching for "Magiford" instead of my author name.

I also asked the Champions who are part of the Facebook Group Community to help me test it so here are some more specific instructions thanks to them!

  1. Libby App: Many Champions confirmed that if you are using the Libby app the ebooks will show up if you search for "Magiford".

    1. If your library already owns a copy you should be able to borrow it or put it on hold.

    2. If your library doesn't own it you can "Tag" it or select the "Notify Me" tag to let your library know you are interested in it. Based on what the Champions said how quickly a library will buy a book can vary a lot (based on the number of people who request it, how often they check their requests, etc.) You might have more luck if you contact the library directly and ask them it acquire it.

  2. Libby/Overdrive as part of Library Website: If Libby/Overdrive is incorporated into your library's regular search option you might not see any of the books if the library doesn't already own them. I recommend you reach out to your librarians directly if this happens to you.

  3. Hoopla: My author view says that some of the books should be available on Hoopla (specifically Chloe's books and Jade's books) but none of the FB Champions who helped me test this were able to find them. Hoopla is known to take forever to add new books so hopefully this is coming before the end of the year!

  4. Cloud Library and Borrow Box: I admittedly don't know anything about either of these services but all 15 of the Magiford books should be available!

And please, if you have a library loving reader in your life who you think would love to read the Magiford books tell them about this!

As a former library worker myself I would love for as many people as possible to read these stories via the library apps so the more people who know the happier I will be!

We aren't sure how popular this option will be with readers so for now only the Magiford books are available this way. Please help spread the word with all your library crazy friends!

P.S. I've had Champions ask why my audiobooks aren't available on Libby or Overdrive but my audiobooks are exclusive to Audible so at this time I'm not allowed to push them to libraries, sorry!
