This was originally supposed to be a pre-order announcement but Audible goofed and released it instead. Opps! But I guess it's a gain for all the Champions who love this story?!?

The audio team has been secretly working on the audiobook for Princess Ahira since December! It's been soooo hard to keep it a secret, but we are so excited because now you can finally hear it!

And since I'm sure this will be number one question on the mind of all the fairy tale fans. Yes! We are planning to do audiobooks of the Timeless Fairy Tales books but we are still working out the details so there isn't anything else I can tell you at this time.

The narrator for this story is Ferdelle Capistrano and she has a magnificent reading voice that makes you nostalgic for that amazing lady who hosts story time at the library.

Also, for the first time ever I have a fun story to share about the audio process, so here's the tea!

Ferdelle originally auditioned for one of the Elves of Lessa audiobooks but we didn't think she was a good fit for those ladies. We did really like her voice though so when we started to think about Princess Ahira we went back and listened to her audition again. After just a few sentences we all knew she would be PERFECT for Ahira! The amazing thing is that this is only the second time in the history of our audiobook projects that the whole team agreed on a narrator choice (the first one was Nathaniel for King Arthur and Her Knights).

I hope that made you excited to hear this new story! Unlike my other books Princess Ahira is definitely younger YA in tone and the audiobook is an excellent choice to listen to with your kids.

Get Ready for Princess Ahira:

We had fun creating these mini-checklists for the Elves of Lessa audiobooks so we are back again with some suggestions on how to prepare for this new audiobook!

  1. Do some cleaning in honor of all the cleaning poor Ahira has to do in this book!

  2. Use the instructions on the Princess Ahira Oatmeal blog post to make your ideal batch of oatmeal for a listening snack!

  3. Download a copy of the Princess Ahira Fairytale Tracker so you can track all the mixed up and twisted fairytales you encouter in the story!

  4. Work on a Princess Ahira themed crossword or puzzle created by the awesome Sheacon planners. You can find link to all of them on the SheaCon page in the Past Blog Posts section.

If you want to know ASAP when a new audiobook is out you can also join my newsletter and signup for the audiobook bonus notifications. My team sends a bonus email to that group as soon as Audible notifies us a new audiobook is live for purchase.

Updated: Dec 26, 2025

It's December, which means I can officially start the Christmas themed blog posts! And what better way to kick off the season but with a free book?!?

Since Princess Ahira is a standalone and not part of a series it doesn't get a ton of attention. If you've never read it before it is similar to my Timeless Fairy Tales series combined with Patricia Wrede's Dealing with Dragons book! (Which you should also read!)

Thanks to some extra work by Vin, the Leader of the Discord Mod Squad, there is now a tracker you can use to log all the fairy tale references that appear in this book. Some of them are appear as a full scene and some of them are only mentioned as a throw away sentence so this is a pretty tough challenge! Can you find them all?!?

If you don't already own your own copy of Princess Ahira, don't worry! Between now and December 7th you can get Princess Ahira for free on Amazon, so share the news with anyone you think would enjoy this dragon + princess story!

Get your book gift: Amazon.com | All other Amazon stores

Plus there's more! In honor of Ahira, you can check social media for a fun Princess Ahira themed game this Saturday.

I hope you enjoy this free fantasy story!

Ahira isn’t a typical princess. When she’s kidnapped by dragons on her sixteenth birthday she declares it the best thing that has ever happened to her.

No more etiquette lessons!

Assigned to a powerful but extremely messy dragon named Azmaveth, Ahira soon makes friends with the magical creatures around her new home. Even cleaning up after Azmaveth and putting up with with his failed magic experiments isn’t too bad, until he forces her to work with his human steward, Kohath.

Kohath is a piece of work. His bossy attitude combined with his lack of personal space makes him the most infuriating male Ahira has ever met. He’s also hiding a huge secret.

But war is looming with the Valkyrie, and not even the dragons are immune to political maneuvering. A surprise betrayal breaks Ahira’s heart and sends her packing back to her old home. If she does nothing she’ll never see Azmaveth, Kohath, or the rest of her magical friends again. Happily ever afters don’t come easy, but this princess just might be willing to fight for hers.

Offering some of my books for free for the month of December is one of my favorite yearly traditions but this year it's going to look a little different than normal (in a good way!). Because of that I am announcing the official schedule so you can make sure you don't miss out.

Here's the quick December schedule:

  • December 3rd - 7th: Princess Ahira ebook free on Amazon

  • December 17th - 21st: Goose Girl ebook free on Amazon

  • December 23rd - Life Reader ebook free on my website*

  • All month long - Princess & the Pea free and more great stories by other clean fantasy authors

*Life Reader was previously for sale on Amazon but was taken down years ago due to too many error reports. It hasn't been edited, and it won't be edited in the future but I know many of you missed out on reading it or would love to read it again so I'm making it free for any of my Champions who would like to read it. If you want to read it early click here to signup for my Author Newsletter as I will be early releasing it to them on December 4th.

I hope you're excited for this different schedule of events! You can also check out my social media each week in December for special themed content and trivia games specific to the featured book each week.

And if you want an email reminder each week to go and get the free books then once again you should signup for my author newsletter and go into your profile settings (there is a link at the bottom of every email I send that allows you to do this) and signup for my Free Book Announcements.
