Ahh, the classic tale where girl falls in love with boy, girl gives up her entire life for the boy, boy falls in love with someone else, and the girl... turns into a daughter of the air?!?

The original story by Hans Christian Andersen had some weird stuff going on (click here to read my sarcastic summary of it if you aren't familiar with his version). But it is a classic story that has captured our hears for generations and there are plenty of beautiful adaptations of it for you to read!

I will first point out that I have written a retelling of this story, but because of my grievances with the original tale I changed the main heroine of my version from a mermaid to a selkie:

The Little Selkie - by K. M. Shea - In my version the heroine is a selkie and is forced to give up her voice for reasons not related to the hero, but most of the same elements of the story remain. This is also one of the most popular heroines I've ever written because even though she can't speak for most of the book she manages to take down the bullies in some inspiring ways. :)

Now for the full list of 70+ books all of which were suggested by my reader community (I asked for no spice and low language but check reviews if you have questions about the book's content). Since these are coming directly from readers you can think of them as a book rec from a friend.

Last year we had a week devoted 100% to everyone's favorite Trash Griffin, French Fry, from my Magiford Supernatural City series.

This year we are doing something similar for the most popular horse/equine related character across all my books: Pegasus.

He appears in both the Timeless Fairy Tales series and the Fairy Tale Enchantress series, and he even has his own dedicated short story showing his POV!

We are scaling things back this year and there will just be two main giveaway/contests (one on the Discord server and one in the Facebook group). The Giveaway/contest prizes will be some exclusive Pegasus themed swag, and even if you don't win one of the giveaways I am making one of my books FREE for most of the week so everyone can get a prize!

Here's the schedule for Pegasus Appreciation Week:

*The reason why the free book is Puss in Books for this event is because there is a scene from the book that also appears in The Constellation's Dilemma short story! I highly recommend reading both versions so you get both POVs!

Did this short story change your opinion of Pegasus? Did anything surprise you?

As an extra bonus, here's a quote image from this short story that my team made last year but we didn't have a chance to share it anywhere!

To celebrate publishing a new Book List blog post for The Frog Prince (click here to read it) I decided to do a week of Frog Prince Related content on my Facebook and Instagram accounts, and as a final summer bonus gift to my Champions I'm releasing a brand new coloring book page featuring the one and only Prince Lucien in frog form!

ree

This coloring book page was once again drawn by the lovely @olena_shkavron and I love how she included so many fancy jewels and ornaments in the corners of this coloring page - it is very much Lucien's vibe!

Here's the link to Ariane and Lucien's book if this coloring page ends up inspiring you to start a reread.

And just for fun, here is the Who Said It? Trivia question I posted on social media earlier this week. Many thanks to the Sheacon planners for previously collecting all these quotes for trivia and allowing me to reuse them for these fun games!
