Hello, Champions!

I know you obviously know some of what is going happen in Trial of Magic (I mean, it overlaps with Twelve Dancing Princesses and Snow White, so it’s pretty clear what you can expect). BUT there are a few surprises coming in Trial of Magic, (more than you probably suspect), and it’s been killing me not to share even a hint of them. (Soon, though, you shall all know!)

But there is something I can reveal that is spoiler free–the cover!!

There are a couple of interesting things I want to point out about this cover (again, these are spoiler free so don’t worry).

  1. In the first three books Angelique always has magic swirling around her in a different color, and you’ll notice it’s silver colored for this cover. Pop quiz for you champion: what’s the color of Angelique’s core magic? Yes that’s right, it’s silver! We have seen her reluctantly use her core magic in previous books, and you can expect more situations in this book where she has to use it again.

  2. This is the last cover where Angelique will be wearing her fancy color changing dress. (Not because the dress is ruined in this story or anything, so stop panicking.)

Finally, I have some good news to share! It looks like we’re on schedule for a July 30th release date! I’m not sure yet if we’ll have enough time to have a pre-order because this is a TIGHT deadline, but I feel fairly comfortable saying that the book will be released then. 🙂

Thanks for reading, and have an incredible day!

I designed the heroines in my Timeless Fairy Tale series to be fierce, brilliant, and kind in their own ways. Whether it’s Cinderella, a duchess who sacrifices everything she owns to provide for her servants; Ariane, a maid who beats off an assassin with a broom to save a prince she frankly doesn’t like; or Angelique, an enchantress who stumbles her way into every curse on the continent; all of the heroines display unique facets of heroism.

It was important to me that I didn’t make every heroine daring and good with a sword, because in real life the good parts about people–their heroism, kindness, and even sassiness–are expressed in so many ways. It’s a beautiful part about being human! I wanted to reflect that, which is why the Timeless Fairy Tale heroines ended up being a pretty varied bunch. And now it’s your chance to find out which of these wonderful heroines is most like you!

Click here to take this brand new quiz, and learn which of the thirteen heroines from the world of Timeless Fairy Tales you most resemble!

I hope you like it! I took it as a test run to make sure everything was working, and I got Dylan. When I took it again a few days later I got Angelique, but that might have been because I was editing part of her book and have started to share her disdain for curses and doe-eyed royals falling in love in dangerous times. 😉

This quiz took me nearly a YEAR to build, because it includes the eleven Timeless Fairy Tale Heroines, plus Rakel of the Snow Queen series, plus Angelique from Fairy Tale Enchantress! (And let me tell you, while these heroines are unique, a lot of them love their family and friends, which made finding questions that would bring out unique answers…challenging.)

So, who did you get? Was it a surprise??

The reading challenge has been running for nearly two weeks, now! How are you doing? I know from the quiz results that a lot of Champions have slammed through the quizzes and already received their prizes for all five books–themed coloring pages! I hoped you liked them!

2021 KM Shea Reading Challenge

I was a little nervous about giving you Champions coloring pages as your prizes. Typically for something like this I’d like to write a free short story, but with Trial of Magic being so grueling to write, there was no way I could do it. I talked it over with the Discord Mod Squad and my team, and we thought really long about what you Champions might like to see before coming up with the coloring pages.

The artist behind the pages is Olena Shkavron–Click here to see see her Instagram! She did a fantastic job in bringing life my creations–she even used a picture of the real life inspiration for Puss (My parent’s cat, his name is Chewie) as a base for the Curse of Magic page!

Over all, I really enjoyed getting the coloring pages made. It’s another way to bring more bookish fun to you Champions in a different kind of way, but now I want to know…

What do you think, Champions?

  1. Was there one page that was more fun to color in than the others? (If so, why?)

  2. Are you interested in getting coloring book pages for other KM Shea/AM Sohma series as well?

  3. Did you share your pages on the Discord server or Facebook group?

I hope you’ve been enjoying the Reading Challenge, Champion! Thank you for joining in this community fun! (And if you get the chance, could you leave an HONEST series review for Fairy Tale Enchantress on its series page? There have been readers who are frustrated the series isn’t finished, so it has a pretty poor rating, ahahah.)
