November is traditionally a month where people aspire to finish a novel in a month. If you are one of those people, I have some great writing resources to share with you. Plus I want to give you the schedule of Vin's Discord Writing Sprints for November so you can work on your writing project as part of the Champion Community!

Writing/Author Resources

Author Resources Page on My Website

This page received a major glow up earlier this year when I got a new website and it now includes a ton of information that was previously scattered to the four winds including:

My Pinterest Board for Writing Tips

This Pinterest board has links to my blog posts on writing as well as many other writing related blog posts (or YouTube videos) from other authors, cool fantasy map ideas, and other resources you might find helpful for writing projects.

BONUS: On my YouTube channel I have a playlist with the videos that are writing related (example: tropes I love).

Discord Community Writing Sprints

Thanks to our Discord Community Manager Vin, you can join with other Champions to have fun while you are writing!

Vin hosts weekly writing sprints on Discord, and please consider this your official invitation to join the group! The dates and times of Vin’s writing sprints are listed below, and they’ll be held in the “Writing Sprints” channel of our server.

You don’t have to work on a writing project if you want to join Vin’s sprints! If you are finishing homework, studying, or have a work project you really need to focus on please feel free to join. We would love to have you!

2024 Writing Sprint Schedule:

  • Wednesdays (6th, 13th, 20th, 27th) at 2pm Central

  • Thursdays (7th, 14th, 21st) at 8pm Central

    • The sprint scheduled for Thanksgiving will be moved to Tuesday (26th) at 8pm Central

Do you love free printable games? Or maybe you just want to give your eyes a break? Enjoy these 14 printable games to test your creativity and challenge your mind.

Previews of the unscrambler cryptograms and madlibs

Magical Beings Word Unscrambler

Unscramble the names of these magical beings (example: Elf) found throughout my books (so they are not restricted to one series). Note: the first page is the list of words and the second page is the answer key so don't look at the second page until you are ready to check your answers! Thanks to reader Cheybri for creating this!

Book Quote Cryptograms

Popular book quotes from various K. M. Shea series have been encrypted (i.e. each letter in each quote has been swapped with a random letter). Use the letters given in the key and your puzzle-solving skills to decode the quote. Thanks to reader Cheybri for creating these too!

Sheaverse Madlibs!

Replace words from an existing book scene to be story accurate or a hysterical monster! Thanks to reader LouBerry for creating these!

MADLIB REMINDERS:

A NOUN is the name of a person, place or thing. Blood, toddler, chicken and finger are nouns. PLURAL means more than one.

A VERB is an action word. Eat, flip, jump and fly are verbs. Ate, flipped, jumped and flew are PAST TENSE VERBS.

AN ADJECTIVE describes something or somebody. Happy, fluffy, awesome, colorful and tall are adjectives.

AN ADVERB tells how something is done. It modifies a verb and often ends in -ly. Quietly, violently, smoothly and never are adverbs.

All of these games are reader-made creations based on the fantasy books by author K. M. Shea. They were made for the online fan event SheaCon and the event planners were generous enough to share them with everyone!

The first ever Character Appreciation Week was, September 8th - 14th, and it stared the loveable trash griffin/pigecoon, French Fry, from the Gate of Myth and Power trilogy!

Thanks to all my team for making this silly and fun event happen! I had so much fun looking over the entries but it wouldn't have been possible without the work of the Facebook Group moderators and Discord Mod Squad!

French Fry Appreciation Wrap Up Post featuring the three faces of French Fry

If you weren't able to participate, don't worry, you can still have fun with me reviewing all the awesome Champion creations!

Memes

The Discord Champions did not disappoint and successfully defended their title as the reigning "Experts of Memes". To see the full list of hilarious entries check the Discord server (Not sure how to join Discord? There are instructions on this webpage.) or I will be posting samples every Monday on my Facebook page and Instagram.

Here are links to each of the Facebook meme posts where I shared examples if you don't want to join Discord:

And here's an example of one of the memes by Lexi Jo:

French Fry (the character) artwork

There are so many talented Champions who are part of our community! There were so many cute fan art and fan works, and yes I loved all the coloring page entries as well. If this inspired you to color you can find French Fry's coloring page on my website. You can see all the entries on the Facebook Group and tagged on my Instagram profile.

Here are links to each of the Facebook artwork posts:

Here's an example of French Fry crochet art by @alexandramason27

French Fry (the food) photos

Ok, I realize this was a really strange game - asking everyone to take photos of french fries is not a typical book game - but it was super fun to see the entries! French Fry would definitely approve! I'm going to share all of them in this post (I modified them to include French Fry and the name of the photographer!). You can find the originals on the Facebook group!
